The Nuthatch is
amazing to watch as they creep headfirst down tree trunks.
There are two
kinds of Nuthatches that are common found. The White Breasted
Nuthatch and the Red Breasted Nuthatch. The White-breasted
Nuthatch is normally territorial throughout the year, with pairs
staying together. The Red-breasted Nuthatches migrate southward
in early July and reach their southernmost point by October.
The Nuthatch
gets its name from the way they gather nuts and seeds, jam them
into tree bark and then hammer or “hatch” the food open with
their bills.
